Welcome to my Pineapple Crunch Quilt. Below are two video demonstrations that I filmed as part of my Online class program in 2020.
The first video will demonstrate the making of the paper foundation pieced pineapple blocks.
The second video includes making the pineapple variation blocks including the hexagon centre.
Below are the step by step photographs for Pineapple Crunch.
Select a colour scheme for your block – 3 pinks, 3 greens and 1 cream to go with your feature floral.
Print out your pattern sheet and cut all the strips and feature floral according to the cutting instructions.
Fold on all the sewing lines of the pattern sheet.
Here is the pre-folded pattern sheet.
After pinning the centre square to cover piece 1, fold on the line between 1 and 2. Trim the seam allowance of the square to allow a quarter inch seam from the folded line.
Place the first pink strip right side up on the table. Position the pattern sheet with the centre square on top, right sides together, aligning the trimmed edge with the raw edge of the strip. Fold the paper pattern over and pin.
First pink strips sewn in place and pressed out.
First two green strips sewn in place and pressed out.
First two cream strips pinned in place.

Place a pin in the centre of the long side of the feature floral triangle.
Match the pin to the centre of the pattern. Fold over and pin on the line and sew.
All four corner triangles are pinned in place.
Sew the triangles right out to the edge of the dashed line.
The block all finished.
Here is the pineapple block, all trimmed to 7 1/2” square.
For the Pineapple variation blocks, print your pattern and choose your fabrics. Cut out fabrics according to the cutting instructions.
Pre-fold all the stitching lines.
Pin the centre square of piece #1 on the pattern. Fold back between 1 and 2 and trim.
Line up the next piece, aligning the trimmed edge and centring the strip.
The first green strips sewn on.
The first pink strips are then pinned on.
Sew a few stitches before the line begins.
All strips are pressed out from the centre.
The second green and pink strips are pinned in place.
The cream strips are sewn on and pressed out.
Trim a quarter inch seam along the corner folds.
All finished
